Izzie was adopted 12 years ago by answering an ad in the paper. She has a newly acquired friend, Smokey.
While there is no open warfare, there is a strict system of boundaries, passive-aggressive staring, and the occasional dramatic hiss to keep everyone emotionally grounded.
Their relationship is best described as “cordial co-workers" who would prefer separate offices.” There is tolerance, there is observation, and there is a deep mutual understanding of exactly how close is too close.

Izzie can usually be found lying on top of pillows, laps, and patches of sunshine. She also has a strong liking for cheese, which she believes should be shared freely and without judgment.

Along with loving the occasional nap, Izzie also enjoys playing and spending time with the grandchildren, who she considers her primary source of entertainment.
